Paris had the honor of hosting one of the major blockchain events of the year last April. In fact, the Palais Brongniart brought together the world’s largest cryptographic entrepreneurs for the Paris Blockchain Week Summit. As a novelty this year, Paris NFT Day preceded these two days of NFT-focused blockchain conferences. We were able to attend these events and bring you the best of these three days here.
Paris NFT Day: Make way for the NFT revolution
Chain of Events, organizer of the fair, wanted to pay tribute to NFT technologies by dedicating a day entirely dedicated to these technologies: Paris NFT Day. On April 12, businessmen, investors and people from all over the blockchain sphere invaded the Palais Brongniart to talk about this revolution.
Don’t ignore that NFTs are the technological revelation of the last two years. Although older, this innovation was driven in front of the stage, leading to record sales. An example is NFT “Every day: the first 5000 days» of the artist Beeple sold for the modest sum of $ 69 million.
With this widespread exhibition, many fashion collections have emerged. Among the most fashionable, we can mention the crazy monkeys of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, present at Paris NFT Day. The holders of these cult NFTs were able to gather around a stand dedicated to this collection; the opportunity for them to discuss the evolution of this trend and the next projects to follow.
This day has also been an opportunity for younger projects to be known and receive feedback from users. For example, the Solid NFT project, present during the three days, was a great success. The company, which specializes in NFT printing on physical media, was a partner in the program. We observed on several occasions individuals going to his stand, wallet on hand, to print your valuable digital assets. Its technology makes it possible to bring digital works to life, bringing the NFTs a little closer to their detractors.
In addition, we were able to discover the Nifty company that is presenting it wallet dedicated to NFTs. The goal of the product is, as a key to Ledger, to be able to sign transactions during NFT exchanges. However, your device has a larger screen to allow the user to view their NFT and scroll through their gallery. Currently in the marketing phase, the Nifty case will be offered to the general public for $ 199.
Finally, Paris NFT Day also saw a series of stakeholder-led conferences involved in the cryptographic and NFT ecosystem. For example, Patrick Mouratoglou’s speech during the conference “Financing the next Serena Williams”. The tennis player has captivated the public with his innovative proposal: the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS). Through his project, Patrick Mouratoglou wants to modernize tennis to make it a more enjoyable version to watch. Obviously, NFTs will serve as a technology overlay to attract viewers and settle into Web3.
Most of the discussions at NFT Day in Paris highlighted the interest of these technologies. On the one hand, NFTs provide a notion of decentralized digital ownership. On the other hand, these technologies suffer from their image in front of the general public and specific use cases must be developed. However, a large majority of environmental actors agree that the development of these tools could not be done without all the abuses we have suffered.
Paris Blockchain Week Summit: The blockchain from all angles
Following the start of the festivities that began during Paris NFT Day, the Paris Blockchain Week Summit put the blockchain in the spotlight on April 13th and 14th. Visitors who made the trip were able to browse the stands of dozens of cryptographic projects and interact with those that give life to this ecosystem. Among the essential stands is that of Binance, whose gift wheel was able to harangue the crowd.
Impossible to talk about Binance without saying a few words about CZ, its CEO. Present at the show, CZ opened these two days at the Palais Brongniart with a lecture on the main stage with a full house. In his speech, the CEO of the world’s largest stock exchange presented the meteoric growth that his company has experienced since its inception. He even took the opportunity to reveal the secret of the platform’s success: “Binance is 2% strategy, 98% execution!” It was also during this conference that CZ announced the opening of a 100 million euro incubator on the Station F startup campus in Paris. This partnership aims to accelerate the development of blockchain projects in France and more widely in Europe.
As for Paris NFT Day, dozens of speakers followed one another in various stages to express their views on the future of this ecosystem. It would take dozens of pages to summarize the content of the conferences held during the Paris Blockchain Week Summit. However, we can draw some of the most compelling points.
First of all, all the speakers defended their connection to this ecosystem and the pleasure of evolving with people who want to build the world of tomorrow. It is still crucial that the first players in this environment flourish so that the values of the blockchain take precedence over profits. Obviously, everyone is there for profit, as a speaker amused us by reminding us. However, the success of Web3 must remain the main engine of this machinery and the benefits a consequence!
At the time, the word “regulation” was ubiquitous in most presentations. Undoubtedly, this ecosystem has developed at full speed with fantastic successes such as Binance. However, the laws established by the states must be respected and it will be important to establish a clear legal framework for the taxation of cryptocurrencies. It is with this condition that this environment can find its place in the world economy.
After all, there have never been so many people in this universe! The adoption of cryptocurrencies is comparable to the adoption of the Internet in the 2000s. When we know how ubiquitous the Internet is in our lives today, it is no illusion to dream of global adoption in the years to come. Either way, a total collapse of this ecosystem seems a little more unlikely every day!
A 2023 edition?
If you liked the program of the Paris Blockchain Week Summit 2022, you are not at the end of your surprises. The organizer of the fair, Chain of Events, has just announced that the 2023 edition will take place in another emblematic place in Paris: Le Carrousel du Louvre! In order to organize yourself as best you can and be able to get there, write down the dates of these three days placed under the sign of the blockchain: April 25, 26 and 27, 2023.
The Paris NFT Day and the Paris Blockchain Week Summit have fully fulfilled their mission of delivering an ecosystem upgrade in early 2022. While prices are falling after the 2021 surpluses, it was important to see that the people who allow this environment to exist continue to develop it vigorously.
