Zapping Autonews Green BMW X7 (2022): the restyling of the SUV in video
As expected, Buick introduces its new concept car in early June 2022. Named Buick Electra-X, this model aims to foreshadow the future of the American brand, especially in the Chinese market where it is trying to reinvent itself. So the Electra-X concept car introduces what manufacturers call a “design language,” with curves never seen in a Buick model.
Aesthetically, this new concept car looks very close to a production model. The Buick Electra-X adopts a fluid design, designed to give the impression that the vehicle is constantly in motion. The Electra-X’s style is distinguished by its trapezoidal grille, shark snout, penetrating gaze from its narrow LED headlights, as well as its coupe SUV line.
Project information on the ground

Presented with a body color called Satin White Metallic, the Buick Electra-X is placed on 21-inch aerodynamic wheels designed to optimize its range. The four-seater SUV also includes built-in door handles, an aileron and a rear light strip. It is also able to project information on the ground in order to warn pedestrians around it.

As is often the case with concept cars that foreshadow future production models, it is the cabin that seems less close to reality. Buick designers had a great time creating a futuristic dashboard with a 30-inch floating screen. This hides the grilles of the air conditioning system. Another screen to control this same system is integrated into the center console, which is also floating.
The cabin seats of the Buick Electra-X sit on a wooden case and feature a fabric upholstery made from recycled plastic bottles. Thanks to the SUV’s long wheelbase, Buick explains that it created a spacious cabin, bathed in light thanks to the presence of an enveloping windshield and a panoramic roof.
An autonomous, high-tech and connected SUV

The interior of the Electra-X is full of technology, with the Virtual Cockpit System entertainment information system that allows you to enjoy a true “digital ecosystem” and a “connected experience”, in the words of Buick. The dashboard screen shows a 6K resolution and is equipped with a 5G connection.
IKey functionality allows you to unlock, control and park your car remotely using a smartphone. The Super Cruise cruise control allows you to change lanes automatically, with full autonomy.
Finally, the SUV has a multi-zone voice control system that allows you to control GPS navigation, air conditioning, audio system, seat adjustment or even the lighting environment to board.
Autonomy and power remain unknown

Based on General Motors’ Ultium technical platform, this concept car should logically benefit from a battery with more autonomy than regular electric vehicles. Buick is careful, however, to communicate any information in the data sheet of this Electra-X. We’ll have to wait for the production models derived from this car to find out more about what the American premium manufacturer is preparing. However, they should not be marketed in Europe.
