BAC 2022. In less than a week high school for mainland France begins, but the first subjects of the specialty have already fallen in Polynesia! Indeed, the specialty tests are the first step of the 2022 high school. We give you all the essential information.
[Mis à jour le 6 mai 2022 à 16h56] In less than a week, final year students will take their first written high school exams. But this is the case in mainland France, in Polynesia the first subjects fell this Friday, May 6th. Indeed, this 2022 session begins with specialty tests. Thus, this is the first time that candidates have encountered this novelty introduced by high school reform. Between 11 and 13 May (for mainland France), there will be twelve tests, one for specialized education, but candidates will only be assessed in the two subjects they have chosen to take during the first year and the terminal.
Metropolitan high school students can therefore review themselves by focusing on topics that have fallen on Polynesia. For example, for the test of the specialty of history, geography, geopolitics and political science, students had the option to choose between three subjects: two doctoral theses (Judging genocides and mass crimes since 1945 / The conquest of space, an ideological and power point) and a review. of documents (The stages of human action on their environment since the Neolithic). As for the specialty test in economics and social sciences, Polynesians could choose to treat the thesis (How can we explain international trade?) Or one of two composite tests based on the study of documents.
If the exams are already a source of stress, this year the candidates open the written tests of the specialty and some are afraid to find their copy. Baccalaureate students and future graduates will be able to count on the arrangements provided by the Ministry of National Education: two days of classes entirely devoted to revisions before the tests and above all, the possibility during the exams to have the option on the exercises to carry out. To give candidates more chances of success, the ministry has assured that for all specialties that allow it, candidates will be able to choose to answer certain questions or be evaluated in one exercise instead of another. If the choice refers to the form of the test, it also allows candidates to work on topics that inspire and dominate them because for each exercise the topics covered will be specified.
This short exam session is only the first half of the tests that make up the baccalaureate, candidates will have to return to classes and review for the philosophy and oral tests scheduled between mid-June after May 13 and early July. First graders will be required to share with written and oral French tests. As a reminder, the final exams of high school represent 60% of the final grade, for the remaining 40% the scores of each candidate are already made as it is a continuous assessment.
What are the dates for the 2022 high school specialty tests?
Once again, the schedule for the high school exams has been reversed, while the specialty exams were to be brought forward and will take place between March 14 and 16, and will finally be postponed from Wednesday, May 11 to Friday, May 13th. The Ministry of National Education justified its decision by the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic at the beginning of the school year. With the two-month move of the tests, the ministry has sought to “preserve equal treatment between candidates and allow everyone to calmly prepare for these tests.”
If the tests are extended over three days, each candidate will only take two exams, the ones corresponding to the specialty courses taken in the first and last year. Between the 11th and 13th, high school students will have one day to breathe between the tests, or an additional one day to review before the exams or leave one day before the test session. . This detail must be taken into account to get in good condition before the exams and especially to manage stress. These are the time slots scheduled for each written test according to the student:

What subjects for specialty tests?
Each specialty test, whether specific to the general baccalaureate or the technological baccalaureate, has its own program. Therefore, it is likely that the candidate will be evaluated in all the subjects studied during the year. The workload may also be heavy for the 2022 high school, the ministry has decided to lighten the candidates ’reviews a bit. In each specialty course, he has divided the topics of the program into three categories: the subjects reserved for exams of even years, those that are assessed only in odd years and the essential and / or main topics that may fall in the tests. end of each year. For guidance, the website of the Ministry of National Education has shared its new classification of subjects subject by subject.
Candidates will have between three and four hours to write each specialty test, but once it is not personalized, the course and content of the exams are specific to each subject. For all written tests and based on the assessed teaching, candidates will have to answer questions, solve problems, perform various exercises or even write essays. One thing is certain, “these specialty tests will include adjustments to their subjects, which will always guarantee the candidate the opportunity to choose, either between questions or between exercises,” the Ministry of National Education promised on 28 January Specifically, the subjects will present several questions or several exercises to the candidate and he will have to choose to answer or do a certain number. Be careful because some subjects will provide mandatory exercises for all candidates and other electives.
Most specialties are assessed in a single written test, but certain subjects, particularly science, include a practical exam that will be done a few days after the final test according to the calendars of each institute. For these practical exams, candidates will have to choose a topic at random from among those proposed and demonstrate their mastery of the subject and / or their practical skills before a jury of teachers. The Arts specialty test includes an oral test that is organized under the same conditions as the scientific practice tests. Find the details of the course of each test in our articles dedicated to the twelve specialty courses listed above.
When will the results of the specialty tests be published?
Due to the postponement of the specialty tests at least in May, the results of the tests will be published at the same time as the others, ie on July 5, 2022. The grades obtained in the written tests of the courses of the specialty, and usually known in March, should be taken into account in the Parcoursup dossier. As a result of the postponement of the tests, it is finally the averages of each candidate in these subjects of the three terms of the first class and the first two terms of the final class that have been incorporated in the guidance sheets.
What are specialty exams?
Since high school reform, the S, ES and L chains no longer exist in high school. And the baccalaureate is no longer just a set of written tests of all the subjects concentrated in one week at the end of the course. From now on, the continuous assessment is taken into account up to 40% of the final grade and various tests (French, didactics of specialties, philosophy and great oral) allow to complete the assessment at the end of high school.
The specialty tests correspond to the choice of three specialties made by each first-year high school student. In the last year, he keeps only two and does written tests before the end of the year. The results are of great importance. Weighed 16 each, corresponding to 32% of the final grade.
When choosing their specialties, students can choose from: arts; history-geography, geopolitics and political science; humanity, literature, philosophy; literature and languages and cultures of antiquity; Foreign and regional languages, literatures and cultures; maths; digital and computer science; Chemical physics; economics and social sciences; Engineering sciences; Life and earth sciences; biology-ecology sciences.
