Brittany: 5 favorite motorhome routes

In France, Brittany is the preferred destination for motorhomes. Le Monde du Camping-Car offers five routes to Morbihan, Finistère, Côtes d’Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine. On the program: sea, nature, heritage and gastronomy.

Among the routes published in Le Monde du Camping-Car we have selected five, located in the four corners of Brittany. We follow them to the letter … or not; we can also be inspired for future getaways.

1 South of Brittany: discovering the Rias

240 km, 3 days: a route that runs along the south coast of Brittany, from Auray to Pont-l’Abbé, with important stages in the Etel estuary and on the banks of the Doëlan, Merrien and Brigneau mines. A circuit that reconciles seawater and freshwater, to discover the fjords of Brittany. To visit: the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly in Lorient, the citadel of Port-Louis, the walled city of Concarneau and the village of Pont-l’Abbé.

Take the step: There are many free parking areas on this route, in particular the Saint-Nicolas car park in Quimperlé, the Ria de Brigneau car park or the Bois-d’Amour car park in Pont-Aven. See also our selection of service areas in Morbihan and Finisterre.

2 Finisterre: Crozon Peninsula and Cape Sizun

Motorhome: 5 favorite itineraries in Brittany

280 km, 5 days: an extra long circuit for an ultra panoramic experience of Brittany. This route is made in two parts, one from Le Faou to Camaret-sur-Mer, the heads, peaks, beaches and picturesque ports of the Crozon Peninsula, before continuing, from Locronan and Douarnenez, by a dry and sumptuous and monumental coast. Peaks and peaks follow between Douarnenez and Pointe du Raz, and our route continues to the charming village of Pont-Croix.

Step: there is no shortage of car parks, especially by the sea, the night stage is often tolerated. In high season, choose your stages wisely. See also our selection of service areas in Finisterre.

3 Côtes d’Armor: the Pink Granite coast

Motorhome: 5 favorite itineraries in Brittany

80 km, 3 days: Spend time on the Pink Granite Coast. The route starts in Perros-Guirec, a chic and familiar seaside resort (which is best seen out of season, especially in a motorhome). Then the road offers beautiful discoveries: the pink sandy beach of Saint-Guirec and the small natural harbor of Ploumanac’h. It is also from Ploumanac’h beach that the most typical customs road of the Pink Granite coast starts. Other essential stages: the pink lighthouse of Men Ruz, then between Trégastel and Trébeurden, the beaches, the islands and beautiful walks along signposted paths. The circuit ends inland, around Plemeur-Bodou and Lannion.

Step: There are also car parks here, especially in front of the sea, be aware, however, in season: there are many tourists, and motorhomes must be more discreet … See also our selection of service areas on the Côtes d ‘Armor

4 Emerald Coast: Wild and accessible Brittany

Motorhome: 5 favorite itineraries in Brittany

100 km, 3 days: Dinard, Saint-Malo, Cancale, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo … there is a lot to see on this Emerald Coast. Mainly because there is a diversion to Dinan on the program. It is also after a visit to the cobbled streets, between the half-timbered facades that we will go to the beaches of Saint-Briac, Lancieux, as well as to Saint-Jacut and then Saint-Cast. One last visit ends this itinerary in style: that of Fort La Latte, a magnificent fortress perched on its cliff.

Step: In addition to shared car parks (where you can park freely, but avoiding groupings and long stays), there are many service areas in the area. We recommend the Saint-Malo (Paul-féval car park, 100 spaces), as well as the Emeraude campsite, which offers motorhomes a specific rate for the stairs to their car park. Stops in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, La Richardais and Cancale are possible stops. Check out our selection of areas in Ille-et-Vilaine and the Côtes d’Armor

5 Inland: cities of character in the Morbihan

Motorhome: 5 favorite itineraries in Brittany

140 km, 4 days: Josselin and its Gothic basilica, Guéhenno, Lizio, Malestroit the “Pearl of Oust” … villages and towns with an ancient and rich heritage, with narrow streets and squares surrounded by half-timbered houses. The route extends to Rochefort-en-Terre (which is more pleasant out of season) where you can see the architecture of the 16th and 17th centuries and the neo-Gothic castle built in the early 20th century. The circuit ends, before reaching Vannes, with a visit to the fortress of Largoët, a very beautiful medieval building.

Step: The itinerary has several service areas and passable car parks for motorhomes, in particular the Rochefort-en-Terre motorhome car park (€ 4 per night). See also our selection of service areas in Morbihan.
