This is how Pierre and Sylvain, the creators of Vilebrequin, were received on the Grand Rex stage in Paris on Tuesday evening. Fans of the automotive YouTubers duo had the privilege of discovering never-before-seen images from the YouTube channel. Between laughter and cheers, they were also able to watch the cult video of the speed reducer at 130 km / h, published 4 years ago, and discover an advance of the speed reducer … at 170 km / h.

Available since Thursday, on the Vilebrequin channel, the video was greeted by a long standing ovation from the Grand Rex in an indescribable atmosphere. For Pierre, one of the two acolytes of the channel, this new video is “the completion of four years of work. In 2018, it was the video of the 130 km / h speed drop that really launched Vilebrequin. Four years later, beyond 40km / h, this new video is a way to thank subscribers and measure the duo’s progress.

Belching, farting and acrobatics

In the beginning, there were many doubts, failures, false exits … “Attracting people, and those first clicks, was complicated, says Pierre. The subject of our channel is complicated, because the car is a little scary. But in fact, when people click, they like what we broadcast. ” Sylvain adds: “We understood that people liked to see us having fun. We have fun and they feel it. ”The goal is more entertainment than car testing or mechanical advice.

somewhere in between donkey, MTV cult program in the 2000s and Top Gear, Vilebrequin, are videos with flowery language, belching, farts and light jokes. This cocktail, which accompanies DIY videos and stunts, has already attracted more than 1.72 million subscribers. On its channel, you can also find a test of the latest Mercedes, crazy tests (reprogramming a Tesla or running a vodka engine …) and the popularization of car mechanics. But always with that inimitable and assumed awkward tone … “I wish I could say we make characters but no, we’re basically two big reds,” laughs Pierre.

A very close-knit community and youtubers

“Beloved ones are now creating quite an atmosphere,” Sylvain told us backstage on the evening of the Grand Rex. The “loulous”? This is how the two youtubers designate their fan community (they used to be called “the zouzous”, but that’s another story …). On Tuesday night, the duo answered some of their questions during a FAQ. But above all, the cuties invest in youtubers’ projects, for example through the kitten of the completely crazy 1000Tipla project: riding a 1000-horsepower engine in a Fiat Multipla …

“The pleasure of beauties is our main motivation,” says Sylvain. For example, on Tuesday evening it was organized at a loss for youtubers. The place was only 6.90 euros, and a pity for profitability. “For the people we want to reach, the people we really love, because they are the ones who make us live, you can’t expect prices to be higher,” says Pierre. What continues to grow, however, is the audience that Vilebrequin reaches. If the duo wanted to thank the hard core of their loyal fans, it aims to seduce more and more people with their craziest projects among them.
