The inevitable happened. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class reviewed by AMG replaces its V8 engine with a 2.0 four-cylinder, which is also a hybrid. Mercedes-AMG unveiled this new iteration called the C 43 4Matic on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Available as a sedan and as a station wagon, this new generation of the AMG C-Class is introduced about a year after the launch of the traditional model.

So, aesthetically, this Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic is quite close to the C-Class, but is distinguished by an even sportier style. The car adopts a specific radiator grille with chrome vertical strips, a more sculpted front bumper, as well as a rear diffuser, AMG door sills and even four exhaust outlets. The car is mounted on AMG light alloy wheels.

It is under the hood of this Mercedes-AMG C 43 that a real revolution has taken place. As previously announced, the sport leaves its V6 and V8 engines for a 2.0 four-cylinder that has a turbo with electric assistance derived from F1. In fact, it is the same M139 engine that equips the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S. The block here develops 408 hp for 500 Nm of torque. “Depending on the situation, it benefits from an increase of 14 hp,” explains Mercedes-AMG, thanks to the implementation of a 48 V lightweight hybridization system.

Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. “It can be increased to 265 km / h,” says Mercedes-AMG, choosing an optional pack at the time of configuration. The engine is mated to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, as the name of the car indicates.

It will be a while before you can really hear that sound. Affalterbach’s new baby is expected to be launched in 2022, at an unknown price at the time of writing.
