2017-2022: 5 years of performance by the School of the Republic

2017-2022: 5 years of performance by the School of the Republic

Raise the general standard and fight against social inequalities : these were the two objectives that we set out very clearly in 2017, in line with the commitments made by the President of the Republic when he was elected.

Since then, all these commitments have been maintained and even exceeded. : duplication of CP and CE1 classes in the priority education network (but also, from 2019, in the large children’s section); strong revaluation of REP + bonuses to strengthen the attractiveness of positions and the stability of teams; implementation of national assessments; device Homework done in college; reform of the professional itinerary; reform of the general institute; creation of the School Evaluation Council; cell phone ban in high school; fight bullying; creation of a large inclusive school public service, etc.

The public policies implemented have been geared to all levers for the development of the school system : from teacher training to the construction of an evaluation system, through structural reforms such as land use planning.
The principle was to give a reinforced scientific and republican basis to these policies by creating a Scientific Council for National Education and a Council of Lay Elders.
The laws have given strength to these changes, first of all the trust school law, but also the Gatel law to better regulate the situation of schools out of contract, the Rilhac law of school principals or even the Balancing Law of the
harassment.

The budget supported the necessary efforts. This increase had never occurred: + 13% in five years to specify the absolute priority in primary.

The changes have taken place to give roots and wings to all students in France. The roots: the basis of fundamental knowledge. The results in French and mathematics of primary school students clearly improve under the effect of various measures, in particular pedagogical ones. The wings: the personalization of the course, the reform of the baccalaureate in particular, translate a much greater freedom given to the students to chart their path and are accompanied by a deepening of knowledge, and therefore a rise in level, as well as better preparation for higher education.

All this could happen despite a health crisis of unprecedented magnitude.. Through the policy of the Open School, France, thanks to its teachers, staff and all national partners in education, has been one of the countries that has best protected children from the consequences of confinement. It will probably be one of the few nations to see the level progress despite this difficult period.

Finally, the Grenelle of education, through twelve commitments, it laid the groundwork for an essential improvement in recognition due to national educational staff. And this began to materialize with, for the younger ones,
salary increases at the beginning of a career of + 10% between 2020 and 2022. This opens the way to repositioning our education system among the most efficient in the world.

The expansion in 2020 of the ministry, which has now become the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sportsis significant of a complete view of the time of the child, the adolescent, the young person: the Plan Wednesday, the Learning Holidays and the different commitments for the sport in the school, such as 30 minutes of daily physical activity started in 2020, illustrates this.

This was accompanied by proactive social policies, in particular, the Boarding Schools of Excellence, the free breakfasts or the Educational Cities, which were aimed at the most disadvantaged groups.

A student who goes to school with confidence and who gains self-confidence thanks to a school that transmits to him the knowledge and values that will guide him for a lifetime: this is the meaning and essence of the improvements made in five years for the work of the ensemble
French educational community.

The furrows thus drawn deserve to be deepened and completed in the service of our country and of each of its children.
