Alchemy

“Stevensongs” is a “hybrid creation.” “A show where the music, in the heart, transports us to the spooky imagination of Robert Louis Stevenson.” Those who know Fergessen’s music will find his signature and the incredible magic that comes from his two mixed voices. They will also discover the full power of the staging imagined by Nora Granovsky, director of the BVZK company, and the polished scenery of Pierre Nouvel. The chemistry is total.

Beyond Treasure Island

Stevenson is one of the most widely read authors in the world. Beyond Treasure Island which has caught thousands of young readers or The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde who laid the foundations of science fiction, the Scottish writer was also a poet. Poems often little known to the French but whose musicality immediately won the ears of the duo Fergessen. Taken from different collections, the texts naturally gave rise to melodies. The ten songs, created on stage, will be punctuated with fragments of correspondence.

Stevenson 2022

“Neither narrative, nor explanatory, nor descriptive,” the evening promises to be exotic and poetic. An hour-and-a-half trek through the misty atmosphere of 19th-century Scotlandi century and the light of the Samoan Islands where Stevenson ended his life. A sustained pace, a “vital breath” that, mixed with digital effects, evokes a “Stevenson 2022” that was able to take shape thanks to the support of the regions of the Far East and the Alt-de-France, the Vosges and the Pas. -Calais and the DRAC.

At the Edinburgh International Festival in August

Driven by a desire to walk the Stevenson grounds, Fergessen responded to a call for projects launched by the French Institute of Scotland. Seduced by the show, the cultural center hurried to open the doors of the Edinburgh International Festival – experts talk about the “Fringe” – the equivalent through the Channel of our own Avignon. On the program: twenty-one scenes, from August 5 to 29, to give another dimension to “Stevensongs”. And bring to life, in the heart of the Scottish capital, a whole section of the work of Robert Louis Stevenson, where the writer-traveler was born on November 13, 1850. A real challenge for the French couple.

“Stevensongs”. – Friday 1er April, 8.30 pm, Espace Georges-Sadoul, Saint-Dié. Full price 12 euros. Reservations at fergessen.fr, ticketmaster.fr or Espace Sadoul on 03 29 56 14 09.
