Gender Equality Week at School: Announcements, Collaborations and Events

This week is intended to strengthen the mobilization in schools around International Women’s Rights Day and, therefore, education for equality in all its dimensions (education against stereotyped representations, education for mutual respect , awareness of issues of diversity and professional equality, awareness in the fight against masculinity). and sexual violence).

The School of the Republic participates in the construction of the citizen and contributes to the emancipation of each individual. That is why the ministry promotes a proactive policy in favor of equality between girls and boys, in order to make each student a free man or woman, able to choose their personal and professional future as well as to build their life. in society as a citizen. .

The culture of equality affects all aspects of student life at school and in school, both in and out of class. It is based on the classes and teaching practices as well as the educational actions carried out on this subject. It involves the mobilization of the entire educational community: students, teaching and educational staff, social and health staff, as well as families.

The fight against gender stereotypes, the fight against all forms of sexist and sexual violence, the development of a real health education, the possibility of a sex education that meets the expectations and needs of students, are great axes of development and the diffusion of a culture of prevention and awareness addressed to everyone, girls and boys.

On the occasion of this week, Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, will take part in various events and sign various agreements which are all opportunities to show the diversity of collaborations with society, civil society and the economic and professional society. world.

The procedures for implementing the measures derived from the report “Making equality between girls and boys a new stage in the implementation of the 21st century institute”, presented in July 2021, will be announced this week by the Minister:

  • The creation of a “girls-boys equality” label for secondary and high schools (LGT and LP) accompanied by a circular and a reference / labeling reference system published this week;
  • Experimentation in various academies of “mixed scholarships”, benefiting students who already have scholarships and who are engaged in specialization courses or technology series in which they would be of a very minority gender. This experimentation may be related to some of the following specialties or series:
    • The six general specialties identified as particularly unmixed: Digital and Computer Science (NSI); Engineering Sciences (IS); Humanities, Literature and Philosophy (HLP); Arts; Literature, Languages ​​and Cultures of Antiquity (LLCA);
    • The three technologically advanced series have also been identified as particularly unmixed: Science and Technology for Industry and Sustainable Development (STi2D); Health and Social Sciences and Technologies (ST2S) and Design Sciences and Technologies and Applied Arts (STD2A).
  • The definition, for the establishments, which are the furthest from it, of targets of 30% of gender diversity in training characterized by the lowest rates of gender diversity (specialty courses in the general field, technology series and post-baccalaureate) over a 5-year horizon period, based on academic initiatives

The different events of the week

  • Monday, March 7: Arrival at the Gare de Lyon, with the presence of Jean Castex and Jean-Michel Blanquer, the first Train for Equality, proposed by the Women’s Foundation, after a tour of France in 10 days and 9 cities, with an exhibition, training and lectures on employment, professional equality, health, violence prevention, street bullying prevention.
  • Tuesday morning, March 8: Visit of the Minister and signing of the collaboration agreement with the Maison des femmes de Saint-Denis (93) to combat violence against women. The purpose of this agreement is to promote the intervention of the staff of the Maison des Femmes in schools or educational centers, in the framework of education for health and sexuality.
  • Tuesday, March 8 in the afternoon: event at the headquarters of the company SAP, in Levallois-Perret, in relation to Never without them to encourage young people to take courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). In the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this visit will be attended by high school students and Laura André-Boyet, an engineer at the European Astronaut Center, the only Frenchwoman to have practiced the profession of astronaut instructor. .
  • Wednesday, March 9 at the SNCF headquarters in Saint-Denis: meeting with the Observatory of Diversity and Professions to participate in a round table on the orientation and diversity of professions.
  • Friday, March 11, at the Academy of Toulouse in Languedoc: launch by the Minister of “inspiring figures”, with a first lecture that brought together high school and high school students around Nodji Myaro, Yohan Huget and Sofiane Oumiha.

Other national events during the week:

  • For the 10th consecutive year, from March 7 to 25, 2022, the Youth Awareness Weeks – Women and Entrepreneurship are organized, in collaboration with the 100,000 Entrepreneurs Association, which aims to promote an entrepreneurial culture and female success among young girls and boys aged 13 to 25. During this 10th edition, 1,800 women entrepreneurs will meet more than 40,000 young people from 16 regions.
  • Opening of registrations for the Zéro Cliché competition for equality between girls and boys organized by CLEMI invite schoolchildren, university students and high school students to deconstruct sexist stereotypes in the media, sports, fashion, school, family.
  • Monday, March 7 to Friday, March 10, 6 to 7 p.m. series of webinars offered to national education staff by the DNE on the subject “At least 30% diversity in the digital sectors in 5 years! How to get there?”

On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, the Ministry’s Evaluation, Forecasting and Performance Department publishes its annual booklet entitled March 8, 2022 “Girls and Boys on the Road to Equality: From School to Higher Education: Educational Itineraries and Outcomes, What’s the Difference Between Girls and Boys?”

Finally, in the continuity of the National Action Plan 2021-2023 MENJS / MESRI for professional equality between women and men, the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports is committed, together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in a certification process to obtain the seal “professional equality between women and men” and the seal “diversity” issued by AFNOR. These stamps certify the candidate institution’s commitment to these policies, and their translation into specific actions in human resources management to prevent discrimination and ensure equal treatment of agents in all HR processes (recruitment, promotion, access in training, etc.).
